The flagship of the BMW i7 brand will have a protected version.
BMW is not a newcomer to the niche of armored cars, as they have been producing such cars for over four decades. ‘This tradition will be continued in 2023,’ said the chairman of the board, Oliver Zipse.
The head of the company noted that they ‘will present for the first time a fully electric car with a high level of safety, which will be based on the BMW i7.’
While they haven’t said anything else about the ballistic-protected i7, it’s possible that it will be based on the xDrive60 modification. It is equipped with two electric motors with a capacity of 536 horsepower and 745 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0-97 km/h) takes approximately 4.5 seconds.
On a full charge, the i7 xDrive60 model has an estimated range of 300 miles (ca. 483 km) in the EPA test cycle. Of course, the armored version will be heavier, so it will have slightly worse dynamic performance.
