Boeing stopped buying Russian aluminum

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has decided to abandon Russian aluminum. This became known only now, but the company stopped buying metal from the Russian Federation at the beginning of spring 2022.

Aluminum became the second ‘Russian’ metal that the manufacturer abandoned after the introduction of sanctions. Boeing also stopped buying titanium from Russia this year.

Aircraft manufacturers prefer aluminum because it is light in weight, high in strength and resistant to corrosion. Boeing says it is now sourcing metal from around the world, including the United States.
