Boeing Wisk’s EVTOL electric flying taxi takes to the air for the first time in public (video)

Wisk Aero, a division of Boeing, has conducted the first public demonstration flights of its EVTOL electric flying taxi in Los Angeles.

This was reported by Wisk Aero itself.

The company did this in honor of the 100th anniversary of Long Beach Airport. Wisk started out as Zee Aero in 2010, but later merged with Kitty Hawk Corporation and became a subsidiary of Boeing. Although Wisk operates separately, it has access to Boeing’s developments and expertise. In addition, Wisk announced a partnership with Long Beach through a city economic partnership in 2022.

In October, Wisk became the first electric vertical takeoff and landing (EVTOL) air taxi company to conduct test flights in the Los Angeles area.

The company is already developing its 6th generation aircraft, which will seat four passengers, have a range of up to 150 km, autonomous capabilities, and a 15-minute charging time. Other companies, such as Jovy Aviation and Jetson, are also actively pursuing the development of their electric flying taxis.
