Brazilian leader calls on countries to prepare for Ukraine’s talks with Russia

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva did not want to call Russia an aggressor country and criticized President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for ending negotiations with Moscow. French leader Emmanuel Macron praised the politician for his ability to “build bridges.”

During the summit of leaders of the EU, Latin America and the Caribbean, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that the world is already getting tired of the Russian-Ukrainian war. This was reported in a Bloomberg article on July 19.

“The world is getting tired. Countries are getting tired. So there will come a time when there will be peace. And then there should be a group of countries that can talk to Russia and talk to Ukraine,” Lula da Silva said.

The journalists said that the Brazilian leader tried not to blame Russia for the conflict and war, and also criticized the presidents of Ukraine and the United States. He accused Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden of failing to continue negotiations with the leader of the aggressor country, Putin.

According to media reports, a senior diplomat criticized Lula de Silva for fear of upsetting the Kremlin, but French President Emmanuel Macron praised his colleague for his “ability to build bridges.”

The media emphasized that EU officials insisted that the final statement was a great achievement because of the mention of the “war against Ukraine.” At the same time, the Brazilian president has repeatedly stated that his position remains unchanged.

On July 18, it became known that the EU plans to create a special fund to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine for four years. During this time, the countries plan to allocate 20 billion euros for military aid to Ukraine.
