China shows an electric hypercar that accelerates to hundreds in 1.9 seconds

GAC has shown an electric hypercar with acceleration to “hundreds” in 1.9 seconds. The model with a 1224 hp powerplant will be available in three versions.

GAC has declassified the Hyper SSR electric hypercar. The new product will be sold in China under the Aion brand. The electric coupe will receive a powerplant with a capacity of 1224 horsepower. In the top versions, the car can accelerate to one hundred kilometers per hour in 1.9 seconds. According to the Chinese publication CarNewsChina, the minimum price of the Hyper SSR, which will compete with the Rimas Nevera and Lotus Evija, will be $175,000.

SSR stands for Super, Sport, Race. According to preliminary data, this will be the name of three modifications of the hypercar, which differ in equipment and acceleration time to hundreds.

The overall length of the GAC Hyper SSR is 4556 millimeters, the width is 1988 millimeters, the height is 1230 millimeters, and the wheelbase is 2650 millimeters. Thus, in terms of size, the new car is close to the Ferrari 458 Italia.

The electric coupe has a body with carbon fiber panels, 20-inch wheels and an active rear spoiler that generates up to 100 kilograms of downforce.

The hypercar has an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, a multimedia system with a 14.6-inch screen, heated and ventilated leather sports seats, dual-zone climate control and an eight-speaker audio system.

All versions of the new model will be equipped with a 1,224-horsepower electric powertrain. The developers do not disclose the number of engines. In the basic version, the coupe will be able to accelerate to hundreds in 2.3 seconds. The two older trims take 1.9 seconds to accelerate to one hundred kilometers per hour.

The top-of-the-line Hyper SSR will differ from the rest of the versions with a modified chassis adapted for racing tracks. The maximum speed of all hypercars will be 250 kilometers per hour. The range is more than 500 kilometers.

The base model will cost 1286,000 yuan ($175,000). The main competitors of the Chinese hypercar will be the Rimas Nevera and Lotus Evija.
