Czech Grad MLRSs with ballistic computers enter service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces

This week, the first photographs of the Czech VM-21 MT MLRS were posted on the global web. It is a modernized version of the Soviet Grad.

It is worth noting that the systems themselves were delivered from the Czech Republic earlier, but their photos have only now appeared in the public domain. According to analysts, the Czech version of the Grad is more advanced.

First, the VM-21 MT is based on the Tatra T815-7T3R2T chassis with an armored cabin. Second, it boasts a fire control system. Thirdly, the Czech Grad is equipped with a ballistic computer. VM-21 MT systems are manufactured by Excalibur Army. It is this company that supplies modernized T-72s to Ukraine.

The Czech MLRS fires 40 missiles in 20 seconds. The VM-21 MT is powered by a 270-horsepower Czech Tatra V8 engine. On the road, the multiple launcher system can reach a speed of 90 km/h. For comparison, the maximum speed of the Soviet Grad is 75 km/h. The power of its power plant is 170 hp.
