Defense forces break through Russian defense near Verbove in Zaporizhzhia, – Tarnavskyi
The commander of the Tavria operational and strategic grouping of troops, Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, said that the Ukrainian military had broken through the Russian army’s defense near Verbove, Zaporizhzhia region.
He said this in an interview with CNN.
“We have a breakthrough on the left flank [near Verbove], and we continue to advance,” Tarnavsky said.
Instead, he admitted that his troops were moving slower than expected: “Not as fast as expected, not like in the movies about World War II. The main thing is not to lose this initiative. And not to lose it in practice, in actions.”
General Tarnavsky also said that winter will not hinder the Ukrainian counteroffensive, as most of the military advances are now taking place on foot.
The day before, it became known that heavy equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces overcame the Russian fortifications of the first line of Surovikin near the village of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia region for the first time.
Tarnavsky also stated that the biggest breakthrough in this counteroffensive is still ahead. To do this, Ukrainian troops need to reach Tokmak, which is the minimum task of the counteroffensive
