Discord to shut down experimental chatbot Clyde based on OpenAI technologies
Discord is shutting down its artificial intelligence chatbot Clyde less than a year after its launch.
Clyde’s support page has a warning that the bot will be disabled at the end of this month. Discord announced Clyde in March as an experimental feature based on OpenAI technology.
“Until December 1, 2023, users will no longer be able to call Clyde in DM, group DM, or server chats,” the statement said.
Clyde was originally conceived as an AI assistant that you can talk to for fun, ask to play games, or make jokes.
However, this function is not widespread. Some users complained that they never got access to the bot on their servers. It also turned out that Clyde could easily be forced to utter obscene words.
