DIU soldier fell overboard and spent 12 hours in the open sea – footage of rescue operation
The Artan special unit of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine showed an archive video of the evacuation of its cameraman, who fell overboard during a Russian Su-27 fighter jet attack on a motorboat in the Black Sea. The soldier with the call sign “Conan” was rescued.
During the intensive maneuvering of the board to avoid the occupiers’ air strikes, the fighter fell overboard. Under the enemy’s attacks, the comrades had to retreat, but later they returned with reinforcements.
A Bayraktar TB2 drone was used to search for Conan, which after a while detected a human thermal trace in the water. The boats of soldiers trying to break through to their colleagues overboard were fired upon by enemy fighters on duty in the evacuation zone.
The GUR operator was rescued. He spent more than 12 hours at sea.
“Conan” did it. Incredibly powerful, strong in spirit and body, he is now a legend not only of our unit, but, I think, of all Special Forces. We did it too. All tasks have been completed. The main thing is that there were no casualties,” Artan’s fighters described what was happening in the video.
The DIU soldiers report that they have been “in most hot spots of this war” and have performed “dozens of super-important and super-heavy special operations.”
“But this one, realized in the Black Sea, will be remembered by all of us as a special story. It is about human willpower. It is about the values of our team,” they summarized.
