DJI drones may be banned in the US
Drones from the Chinese company DJI may become unavailable for use in the United States. The draft law, known as the “PDA Drone Countermeasures Act,” may be put to a vote in the House of Representatives within the next two months.
The author of the bill, Representative Elise Stefanik, argues that the ban is necessary because DJI poses a potential risk to national security due to its ties to the Chinese government. She also said that the decision is aimed at stimulating competition in the drone industry in the United States, where DJI has a significant market share.
This initiative is part of a broader trend to tighten control over Chinese technology in the United States, including a possible ban on TikTok and other measures against Chinese companies. DJI representatives are actively trying to influence the situation by refuting the accusations and cooperating with lobbyists, but the company’s future in the US market is still uncertain.
