Dozens of Shahed’s own analogs per month: Ukraine starts mass production of UAVs

Ukraine already produces dozens of analogs of Iranian Shahed drones a month.

Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn said this at the annual meeting of the European Business Association, Forbes reports.

According to the minister, the defense industry has launched mass production of UAVs, whose official name is not disclosed, saying: “Ukrainian Shahed.” In addition, Ukrainian enterprises have increased the output of other products that were previously produced in small quantities.

“We have decent numbers now,” emphasized Mr. Kamyshyn.

According to the official, a multiple increase in production does not satisfy the Ukrainian government, which wants a tenfold or more increase. In some areas, such indicators have already been achieved.

Mr. Kamyshyn said that the Cabinet of Ministers has no plans to merge its business with the state-owned Ukroboronprom, as investors are actively developing the private sector. At the same time, many UAV developers have found resources at state-owned factories that they could not have obtained on their own.

“In this respect, the ‘Ukrainian Shahed’ appeared at a state-owned plant,” said Mr. Kamyshyn.

In early November, Ukroboronprom’s CEO announced the production of a Ukrainian analog of Shahed. According to him, Ukraine produces attack drones even better than Iranian ones, capable of flying 1,000 kilometers, and they are already being ordered by the Defense Forces to perform combat missions.
