Drivers in Ukraine have been warned of punishment for using a smartphone

Careless driving can have serious consequences, and even minor violations of the rules can have negative consequences.

Drivers who talk on the phone while driving are particularly dangerous to themselves and other road users.

In Ukraine, according to the Traffic Rules (clause 2.9.e of the Traffic Rules), drivers are prohibited from using mobile phones in their hands.

It should be noted that failure to comply with the rules for using cell phones while driving can have serious consequences. If a call while driving does not lead to an accident, the driver may be fined UAH 510 (according to Article 122.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine). The decision in this regard is made by the inspector at the place of the stop.

However, if the driver’s conversation causes other road users to change their speed, causes a sharp maneuver or violates other safety rules, the fine may be UAH 1,445 or the driver’s license may be withdrawn for a period of six months to one year (according to Article 122, paragraph 5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

The danger of talking on a cell phone or sending messages in a messenger while driving a car is not only subject to legal sanctions, but also poses a threat to the driver and others. Therefore, it is important that drivers follow the rules and ensure their safety on the road.
