Drones attacked energy facilities in Russia: oil storage facilities and factories are burning

At night, two regions of the Russian Federation were attacked by drones. A drone crashed in the city of Lipetsk, and an oil depot is on fire in the Smolensk region.

According to the Russian media, the attack resulted in the downing of a UAV in the industrial zone of the city of Lipetsk. There were no casualties. Law enforcement officers are working at the scene.

Local publics report that the Lipetsk Tractor Plant (LTZ) was attacked by drones. The extent of damage to the company is currently unknown.

“Since 2004, LTZ has been a part of the Tractor Plant machine-building concern and produces, among other things, chassis for military vehicles.

Meanwhile, an oil depot caught fire in the Smolensk region. After the drone attack, fuel and energy facilities in two districts of the region caught fire.


In all likelihood, the enemy’s attack on civilian fuel and energy facilities in the Smolensk and Yartsevsky districts caused fires. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is eliminating the consequences on the spot. I ask you to remain calm and not panic,” wrote the governor of the region, Vasily Anokhin.

Judging by the footage, a refinery or oil storage facility was attacked.

Meanwhile, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on April 24, Ukrainian air defense systems destroyed and intercepted eight Ukrainian UAVs, including:

  • three – over the territory of the Kursk region;
  • two – over the territory of the Belgorod region;
  • two over the territory of the Voronezh region;
  • one over the territory of the Smolensk region.

What we know about drone attacks in Russia

In Russia, there has been a significant increase in the number of fires and explosions, which are often attributed to drone attacks.

For example, on the night of April 23, the Belgorod region authorities claimed that attack drones had attacked the city and district.

Also on the night of April 20, drones attacked eight regions of Russia at once. As a result of the air defense operations, fires broke out and a number of energy infrastructure facilities were damaged.
