Elon Musk is going to make people pay $8 if they want to call him
The billionaire plans to “give up his phone number” in the next few months – instead, he will rely solely on calls and messages on X.
“In a few months, I will stop using my phone number and will only use X for text messages and audio/video calls,” Musk wrote.
It seems that Elon is trying to attract more people to sign up for the X Premium subscription for $8 per month by his own example: all users can receive calls, but only premium users can make them.
In a few months, I will discontinue my phone number and only use X for texts and audio/video calls

The option of audio and video calls was activated on the platform in October.
As Gizmodo notes, the refusal to give up the phone number also looks questionable from a security point of view. In particular, we are talking about SMS confirmation codes used for two-factor authentication. X, offers this option, as do many other social networks – again, for paid users. The rest can use authentication programs or security keys.
