Employee of Izmail TCC tried to illegally smuggle his son abroad across the Danube – media

The journalists claim that they tried to use an inflatable boat to illegally cross the border. The Izmail RTC did not comment on the incident at the time of publication.

Odesa media reports that Romanian border guards detained a 25-year-old Ukrainian, the son of an employee of the Izmail Regional Center for the Protection of Civilians in Odesa Oblast, and handed him over to the Ukrainian side. This was reported by the local publication Izmail.City.

The guy was detained on an inflatable boat on the Danube River in Romanian territorial waters. Later it turned out that the family – father, mother and son – had come to the border island of Kyslytsky allegedly for fishing. When presented with documents, the media reported, they said they were going fishing, and a few hours later the parents returned alone and refused to comment on the situation.

“There is no information about this yet, neither on the official sources of Ukrainian border guards nor their Romanian colleagues,” the newspaper notes.

On March 18, the State Border Guard Service reported that 22 people had drowned while trying to cross the Tisza River to illegally cross the border since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
