End of the wires, Xiaomi has introduced a solar-powered outdoor camera
“Xiaomi has enriched the market of outdoor surveillance accessories with the Xiaomi BW500 camera, which is designed for outdoor use.
The new camera supports charging from Outdoor Camera’s proprietary solar panel, records 2K video, and has 32GB of internal storage.
The BW500 can be used wirelessly thanks to Wi-Fi 6 and a 10,000 mAh battery that provides up to 6 months of autonomy. When the solar panel is connected, the camera can operate continuously.
The device is equipped with a sensor for recording 2K video (2560 x 1440p) with a 136° viewing angle and f/1.6 aperture for better light collection. The camera also has a night vision function with an infrared system that provides color images in the dark and an LED flash that activates when motion is detected.
The new product supports solar charging and is equipped with an AI processing chip capable of identifying people, animals, couriers with parcels, etc. There is also a two-way communication function thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker.
The BW500 stands out for its 32GB internal storage and support for recording to the cloud, NAS, and microSD.
Sales of the accessory in China will start on May 29 at a price of ¥369, which is about €47 in terms of the EU currency. The date of the world premiere has not yet been announced.
