Two Chinese and four Russian military aircraft entered South Korea’s air defense identification zone on Thursday, December 14, as the country raised its fighter jets.
This is reported by Yonhap, referring to a representative of the Seoul Joint Chiefs of Staff.
It is stated that Russian and Chinese military aircraft entered the zone in the East Sea without warning and left it from the east of the easternmost islets of Dokdo.
The planes did not violate South Korea’s airspace, but the country raised its fighter jets to take tactical measures in case of unforeseen circumstances.
“The air defense zone is not a territorial airspace, but is delineated to encourage foreign aircraft to identify themselves to prevent accidental collisions,” the statement said.
South Korea protested to China through a direct military line.
