Ex-Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhnyi declared unfit for service: sensational statement of the Military Qualification Commission
The former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, underwent a military medical examination in the winter and was found unfit for military service.
Back in February, Zaluzhny wrote a letter of resignation from military service.
After being dismissed from his post by the president’s decision, Zaluzhnyi was placed at the disposal of the Minister of Defense. Defense Minister Umerov did not offer any significant military position, just as President Zelensky did not offer it before.
General Zaluzhnyi decided to resign from military service in order to have the opportunity and right to do other things. It remains to be seen whether the Defense Minister signed the report after the President announced his intention to send Valeriy Zaluzhnyi as ambassador to London.
The several-week delay in resolving the issue was due to the fact that after the adoption of the law with the new list of military ranks, the corresponding changes to the regulatory framework were not completed, in particular in presidential decrees; therefore, there is no legal clarity as to who should dismiss Zaluzhnyi with the rank of General from military service – the Minister of Defense by his order or the President by his decree, as previously dismissed Generals of the Ukrainian Army.
According to the current legislation, after two months of being at the disposal of the Minister, the payment of financial support, except for the salary according to military rank, is terminated. For General Zaluzhnyi, who has the highest military rank, this amounts to 1762 hryvnias per month.
