F/A-50 aircraft of the Polish Air Force will be equipped with Sniper containers from Lockheed Martin
Poland has placed an order for the supply of Sniper XR containers designed for reconnaissance and targeting. They are manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
The report published by the Polish Defense Ministry in X shows that the subject of the agreement included 34 suspended containers. They will be installed on F/A-50 aircraft. The contract with Lockheed Martin amounted to USD 105 million.
The Polish Air Force is already using such containers in tandem with F-16C/D. They are used by pilots to guide corrected bombs to their targets. In addition, Sniper XRs help pilots control aircraft in adverse weather conditions.
The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the Polish Air Force will use Korean F/A-50s as light strike aircraft. The Block 20 aircraft will be delivered in 2025-2028. In addition to Sniper, they will be equipped with American Phantom Strike stations manufactured by Raytheon. In total, Warsaw has ordered 48 such aircraft.
