Fedorov names the most secure messenger in Ukraine
The best messenger in terms of data protection and user security in Ukraine is Signal.
This was stated by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“Russian social networks are blocked in Ukraine, thank God, but you know, I still sometimes meet people who have various social networks installed on their phones. In no case can you use Russian social networks. It is extremely dangerous,” says Mykhailo Fedorov.
All other messengers are working in Ukraine. However, WhatsApp, Trema, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram are developing in terms of user security. According to the Vice Prime Minister, this is the order of the top messaging services.
He did not confirm the information that Telegram is dangerous for Ukrainians, as Russian special services can reportedly access users’ correspondence.
“You need to ask our special services, I don’t have this information for sure. I think if a person asks himself or herself such questions or is worried, then he or she should use other messengers,” the Minister of Digital Transformation said.
However, users should take care to protect their own data. This includes two-factor verification, cloud passwords, contracted SIM cards, etc. These measures significantly reduce the possibility of data leakage.
