Finland bans cars with Russian license plates
Starting Saturday, March 16, it is forbidden to drive cars registered in Russia in Finland without a special permit
This is reported by Ilta-Sanomat with reference to the Finnish Customs Service.
It is noted that now a car with Russian license plates in Finland may be subject to customs duties and VAT, after which it must leave the European Union.
However, in some cases, driving a car with Russian-registered license plates will be allowed, for example, for full-time students, people working under fixed-term employment contracts, or EU or European Economic Area citizens permanently residing in Russia.
However, they must prove that they legally imported the car into Finland before the ban came into force.
Last September, Finland decided to stop allowing cars with Russian license plates into the country.
In addition, Lithuania began confiscating cars with Russian license plates on March 11. In this way, the country complies with EU requirements for the import and export of goods from Russia.
