Finland has completely closed the border with Russia (map)

The country’s authorities reported that they had closed border checkpoints due to fears of illegal migration from Russia.

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said that the border with Russia is being completely closed due to fears of illegal migration. Orpo announced this at a press conference on November 28, Sky News reports.

Until recently, only one border crossing point remained open in Finland after the government closed seven others due to the influx of migrants from the Middle East and Africa.

Helsinki accuses Moscow of deliberately escorting migrants to the border.

The American think tank Institute for the Study of War called this strategy of the Kremlin a “tactic of hybrid warfare.”

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen earlier announced that the border would be closed until December 13.

Finland became a NATO member state earlier this year amid concerns over Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.

According to the ISW, migrants are freezing against their will, and the Kremlin has launched a hybrid war against Finland.
