For business customers only: “Kyivstar has launched the Internet using a new technology

Kyivstar mobile operator has launched GPON Internet for business customers in Dnipro, the company’s press service reports.

The Ukrainian electronic communications operator is expanding the coverage of its GPON optical Internet network across Ukraine. In January 2024, this technology became available in Dnipro for business customers. Currently, more than 10 business locations are connected in the city – office and shopping centers, industrial facilities, and further expansion of the network in the city is underway.

GPON is a gigabit passive optical network that allows the Internet to work even when there is no power supply in a building. Such a network is less dependent on the influence of external factors, as optical fibers can transmit data over long distances without significant signal loss and without active equipment.

“This is the second year we have been living and working in unpredictable conditions. Last year, Ukrainians and Ukrainian businesses suffered from blackouts. In 2023, blackouts continued to be a challenge for Ukrainian companies, although less serious than in 2022. Therefore, stable internet became a necessity for both communication and work during this time. That’s why we decided to launch GPON Internet in many cities of Ukraine,” said Kyivstar B2B Director Kostiantyn Vechir.

By the end of March 2024, Kyivstar plans to connect 7 more cities to high-speed Internet using GPON technology. The company will use this technology to provide services such as fixed-line Internet, data transmission, and telephony at speeds of 20 Mbps, 50 Mbps, and 100 Mbps. In the future, the range of services and connection conditions will be expanded.
