For the first time, HIMARS destroyed a Russian Mi-8 helicopter not at the airfield, but in the middle of a field (video)

Russia suffered another loss in aviation, but this time not due to the skillful actions of the Air Force or anti-aircraft gunners, but due to the skill of missile and reconnaissance drone operators.

Moreover, the Ukrainian HIMARS have a new record – a Russian Mi-8 transport helicopter that was destroyed in the field. This is certainly not a strike against ATACMS airfields, but the usual high-precision GMLRS was used. Before that, there had been no such cases.

And the situation with the destruction of such a target is more than indicative in itself. The reconnaissance UAV was able to accurately localize the enemy helicopter that landed in the field, and the target’s coordinates were quickly transferred to the HIMARS calculation, which, while the helicopter was on the ground, completed the job with a precision strike.

At the same time, the distance from the front at which the helicopter was located remains a mystery. Because a whole host of additional aspects depend on it. For example, if it happened at a considerable distance from the front, it may have been the transportation of an important person or their evacuation.

If it’s closer, the helicopter may have made an emergency landing. Although, of course, it is possible that Russian helicopter pilots are simply too careless. It is also possible that it was a search and rescue operation, although the video does not show the wreckage of another car.

A relatively similar situation occurred in February, when an enemy Mi-24 was destroyed by artillery fire.
