Georgia intends to ban air travel with Russia

More and more countries are daring to directly or indirectly confront Russia, which has turned into an aggressor country. In Georgia, Russia occupied 20% of the territory.

The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, opposed the resumption of air traffic with the Russian Federation.

The head of Georgia also demanded tougher conditions for the stay of Russian citizens in Georgia.

Earlier on Georgian TV, the head of the pro-Russian ruling party ‘Georgian Dream’ Iraklii Kobakhidze said that the Georgian authorities want to restore direct air connections with Russia.

He stated that Russia is grateful to Georgia for not joining the sanctions against Russia.

It will be recalled that air traffic between the countries was stopped due to a scandal in 2019, when a member of the Russian State Duma Gavril, while in the country on a visit, decided to speak from the chair of the speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, which caused a stormy negative reaction among the Georgian people. There were large-scale protests with violent actions against peaceful demonstrators, many people were injured.

For a long time, the authorities of Georgia have ignored the opinion of the people who do not want to maintain relations with the country that occupied 20% of their territory.
