Google and Apple remove apps of sanctioned Russian banks

Google and Apple have removed apps from their stores by Russian banks that have been sanctioned by the US and EU. This was reported by Mediasat, citing the Russian newspaper Vedomosti.

Applications such as:

  • “Pochta Bank;
  • “Home Bank;
  • “Russian Standard;
  • “Absolute;
  • “All-Russian Bank for Regional Development.

These apps were also removed from the App Store, with the exception of Russian Standard and Home Bank.

There is a possibility that banks will try to circumvent the sanctions and release their apps under other names, disguising them as unknown services. Sber, VTB, and Alfa-Bank, which were also subject to sanctions, have done this before.
