Hackers break into system with information about British military

In Britain, an unknown cyberattack leaked information about members of the United Kingdom’s armed forces.

This was reported by The Guardian.

According to government officials, more than 270,000 pieces of information about the United Kingdom’s military, including names, bank details, and residential addresses of current and former military personnel, fell into the hands of the criminals.

It is believed that Chinese hackers are behind this cyberattack, which has repeatedly hacked British defense websites and polling stations. According to the publication, the information leaked was about the military who had been in service since January 2018, as well as reservists and veterans. At the same time, information about the military and members of special forces and secret services was not included in this leak, as this is administered by another system. It is believed that the hackers had been online for more than a week, but did not take any action to steal information.

In August 2021, Chinese hackers already hacked into election commissions and extracted contact information of the military. After that, the military began receiving messages about their accounts and threats that information about them was being sent to Beijing.

Earlier it became known that Russian military hackers are attacking the mobile devices of the Ukrainian military to obtain secret information about the fighting.

Also, according to the Voice of America, Russia is using fraudulent websites to collect personal data of thousands of Ukrainian military personnel and their relatives.

The Russian spyware was designed to steal data that the Ukrainian military sends from mobile devices to the Starlink satellite communications system. It is not yet known how successful the Russian hacking attempts were.
