Hamas cryptocurrency accounts blocked by Israeli cyber unit Lahav 433

The Lahav 433 unit cooperates with the Ministry of Defense, the Shin Bet and other intelligence agencies, and has shut down cryptocurrency channels used by terrorist groups.

This was reported by the Israeli police press service. According to her, Hamas has been using these accounts to raise funds on social media since last Saturday.

It is also reported that the cryptocurrency exchange Binance cooperated with Israel in identifying and closing accounts. Lahav 433 also cooperated with the UK police to freeze a Barclays account.

Lahav 433 is an Israeli crime-fighting organization established on January 1, 2008, which is also known as the “Israeli FBI.” The unit was formed after five law enforcement agencies merged into one.

The unit investigates state crimes and corruption, as well as murder and sexual violence.

The number four in the name stands for the four regional departments that make up the unit, and the number 33 stands for the Gideonites, the Mistarvim unit (undercover counterterrorism units).
