He demanded money to stop the abuse: SBU identifies Kadyrov’s colonel who tortured Ukrainian prisoners

The Security Service of Ukraine has identified Colonel Kadyrov, who tortured Ukrainian prisoners and extorted money from their families in exchange for stopping the torture.

We are talking about Zelimkhan Agmerzoev, commander of the 3rd company of the police regiment of the federal department of non-departmental protection of the Russian Guard troops in the Chechen Republic.

According to the SBU, in the occupied Melitopol district, Agmerzoyev formed punitive units that, under his command, organized repressions against civilians and prisoners. On his orders, Ukrainians were brutally tortured.

Agmerzoyev personally called the victims’ relatives and demanded money to stop the abuse. The fact that he extorted 500 thousand hryvnias from the wife of a captured AFU soldier was documented. In case of non-payment, Agmerzoyev threatened to kill or maim the prisoner. He also demanded $20,000 for two abducted civilians.

Agmerzoyev was notified of suspicion of violation of the laws and customs of war (part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code), for which, if detained, he faces 12 years in prison.
