He survived by a miracle: the man hid in the landing gear of an airplane and flew to France from Algeria

A man without documents was found in the landing gear compartment of an airplane at Paris Orly airport. He flew to France from Algeria.

About this he writes The Guardian.

The man is about 20 years old and was taken to the hospital with severe hypothermia. He is in a serious condition.

Commercial airplanes fly at altitudes of up to 12 kilometers, where the temperature usually drops to about -50 °C, and due to the lack of oxygen, the chances of survival in the landing gear compartment are extremely low.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, 132 people tried to travel this way from 1947 to 2021. It is estimated that the mortality rate of such passengers is 77%. In particular, in April 2023, the body of a man was found in the landing gear of an airplane at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.

In July 2019, the body of a frozen man fell into a garden in a suburb of London. Presumably, the deceased was in the landing gear compartment of a Kenya Airways plane approaching Heathrow Airport.
