High-precision ammunition and missiles: US announces new $200 million package for Ukraine

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announces a new $200 million package of military aid to Ukraine, which will include ammunition for air defense systems, artillery and missile munitions, precision aviation munitions, anti-tank weapons, and equipment to counter Russian drones.

This was announced by Austin at the opening of the 16th meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense (Ramstein format), reports “European Truth”.

This brings the total U.S. commitment to $43.9 billion since the beginning of Putin’s war.”

He also said that he expects a number of countries to announce new aid packages for Ukraine at the meeting.

This aid package will be financed from the funds the Pentagon saved due to an accounting error. They allow Kyiv to send weapons and ammunition despite the exclusion of new aid to Ukraine from the stopgap spending bill passed by the House last weekend to avert a shutdown.

Earlier, the Pentagon said that the US Congress should approve additional funding to enable the US to simultaneously provide the necessary military assistance to Israel and Ukraine.

Over the weekend, the Western press reported that Biden wants to get up to $100 billion for Ukraine approved by Congress.
