Honda motor and advanced autopilot: innovative Sony car presented (video)

Sony’s first car will be available to order from 2025, with production starting a year later. Honda specialists help create Afeela.

Afeela, a new car brand created by Sony and Honda, was presented at the CES 2023 show in Las Vegas. The first car of the new brand debuted, a concept electric car. This is reported by CNN.

As you know, earlier two Japanese concerns created a joint venture Sony Honda Mobility. Honda will develop the power plant and platform, and Sony will create multimedia and autopilot.

The new Sony Afeela is an electric sedan with a sloping roof and thin LED headlights and taillights. The concept car is a development of the previous Sony Vision S-01 prototype. A feature of the car is the display in the front part.

A Tesla-like steering wheel is installed in the cabin, and a large screen stretches over the entire front panel. Separate screens are reserved for the rear-view cameras, which replace the rear-view mirrors. Monitors are also provided for rear passengers.

Sony Afeela processors will be supplied by Qualcomm, and graphics for the displays will be created by computer game developers from Epic Games. 45 different sensors, cameras and a leader will be installed for the autopilot.

Taking orders for the Sony Afeela car will begin in 2025, with production starting a year later. It is known that in addition to the sedan, there will also be a crossover in the lineup – its prototype was shown earlier.
