Honda unveils its first mass-produced hydrogen cell electric vehicle

The popular Honda CR-V crossover has received a plug-in hybrid version with a hydrogen engine, which will be delivered in 2024. The car allows you to charge using Level 2 for quick trips or rely on hydrogen energy for long trips.

The Honda car is equipped with a 17.7 kilowatt-hour battery that can be powered by electricity generated by hydrogen through a fuel cell unit or by connecting to the power grid. It has an EPA-rated range of 435 km and can be connected to a Level 2 charger and travel up to 50 km on electric power in EV mode.

The CR-V e:FCEV is the first car to use the second-generation fuel cell module of the Japanese brand, developed jointly with General Motors. The car is equipped with a 174-liter front-engine. and 229 Nm of torque. The maximum output power is approximately 92.2 kW.

Honda claims that the car’s range is up to 100 km with a consumption of 3.7 liters when driving in the city. For comparison, the standard CR-V with front-wheel drive and a 2-liter hybrid engine has a range of 69 km on 3.7 liters in the city.

Prices for the CR-V e:FCEV are not yet known. The Touring model, the only variant available, comes with standard features including 10.2-inch digital instrumentation, a 9-inch HD touchscreen, wireless compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, a Bose premium audio system with 1, power. adjustable heated front seats, heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, and bio-leather seat upholstery.
