Houthis attack undersea internet cables linking two continents

A new war is unfolding in the waters of the Red Sea. Yemeni Houthi rebels, acting with the support of Iran, attack undersea communication cables connecting Europe and Asia.

Over the past few months, the Houthis have already disabled four cables. This led to serious Internet outages, slower speeds, and interruptions in online services.

The Gulf countries and India are the most affected by the attacks. Cables running through the Red Sea provide a significant portion of Internet traffic between these regions, Europe, and Egypt.

The United States, the United Kingdom, and their allies have already begun to take action. They are retaliating and trying to use diplomacy to stop the attacks.

However, the Khusyty are not going to give up. They continue to attack ships in the Red Sea and say they will not stop their activities until a ceasefire is reached in the Gaza Strip.

The situation in the region remains tense. War underwater could have far-reaching consequences for both the global economy and security in general.

Consequences of the attacks:

  • Disruption of the Internet connection.
  • Slowdown of the Internet.
  • Interruptions in the operation of online services.
  • Increase in the cost of Internet traffic.

Economic losses:

  • Decrease in trade volumes.
  • Losses for companies that depend on the Internet connection.

Security threats:

  • Increased risk of cyberattacks.
  • Failures in the operation of management and control systems.

Further scenarios include an escalation of the conflict with an increase in the number of Houthi attacks or a diplomatic solution through mediation by international organizations and negotiations between the parties to the conflict.
