How to ensure uninterrupted Internet during blackouts: tips from the Ministry of Digital Transformation

The Ministry of Digital Transformation has prepared for possible blackouts together with Internet providers and distributed instructions on how Ukrainians can stay connected and have a resilient Internet.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, recommends switching to providers that provide PON services. To speed up the process, you can cooperate with your neighbors, and you also need to purchase a power bank for the WI-FI router.

“We are preparing for winter and possible blackouts: together with operators and providers, we are working to make blackouts as invisible as possible for Ukrainians. While we are providing providers with backup power systems and developing an action plan for blackouts, we have prepared instructions for you in case of emergency,” the statement said.

PON is a state-of-the-art technology that allows you to be online without electricity for up to 72 hours. Currently, 2.7 million Ukrainians use the services of such providers.

In order to have a stable Internet connection in case of an emergency when there is no power, you need to find out first of all whether the Internet provider has switched to energy-saving networks and for how long it will be able to provide you with Internet.
