Hyundai has introduced the S-A2 air taxi, which will fly at a speed of 190 km/h

South Korean automaker Hyundai at the CES exhibition in Las Vegas presented the prototype of the S-A2 electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL). It will work “as quietly as a dishwasher” and will be able to receive energy from solid-state batteries.

Hyundai representatives said that they have combined automotive design with innovative aerospace developments in the S-A2 to create a new way of moving around the city.

The S-A2 with a V-shaped tailplane and eight rotary screws will be capable of reaching a speed of 193 kilometers per hour and flying at an altitude of up to 460 meters. The Hyundai electric air taxi is designed to travel around the city for a distance of 40 to 65 kilometers.

The company plans to start flight tests by the end of 2024, and officially launch the aircraft in 2028.
