In 2024, a new fuel will appear in Poland

Trade in E10 gasoline will be possible from January 1, 2024. There are certain concerns about this, but also hopes. Meanwhile, Germany is already testing E20 fuel.

Germans have long been able to refuel with E10 gasoline. It is significantly cheaper than E5 gasoline, which is common in Poland. According to the latest data, on average in Germany, you have to pay 10 euro cents more for E5 than for E10. On the one hand, about 45 cents is a symbolic difference, but Poles line up at gas stations with their own cans for less.

E10 fuel is simply a fuel that contains 10% of biocomponents, i.e. alcohol produced from, for example, sugar cane, beets, corn, or wheat. Currently, drivers in Poland fill up with E5, which has 5% biocomponents.

The 95 E10 gasoline format will be introduced on January 1, 2024. Its main difference is the increased content of bioethanol (ethyl alcohol) from the current maximum of 5% to a maximum of 10% in the new format.

The introduction of PB95 E10 gasoline is aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Bioethanol, which is the main component of PB95 E10 gasoline, is a renewable fuel produced from biomass, such as sugar cane, sugar beets, corn or wheat. When bioethanol is burned, less carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere than when pure gasoline is burned. It is estimated that the introduction of PB95 E10 gasoline will reduce carbon dioxide emissions in Poland by about 200,000 tons per year.
