In the capital of Ecuador, Guayaquil, a group of armed men with their faces covered broke into a television studio during a live broadcast.

This was reported by Reuters.

Armed men broke into the studio of the Ecuadorian TV channel TC during a live broadcast. They forced people in the studio to the floor, threatening them with weapons, and several shots were heard before the broadcast was interrupted.

According to Reuters, the attackers went through the reception desk, attacked employees and mined the entrance.

According to the agency, the reason for the raid could be that Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa issued a decree declaring 22 large gangs terrorist organizations.

The National Police reported that they are evacuating the studio and “restoring order” and checking the condition of the people who were attacked.

According to the police, 13 people were arrested.
