In the Kherson region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine won another rare military vehicle

It is about the 1B119 ‘Rheostat’ tracked fire control machine for the ‘Nona’ self-propelled guns.

Photos showing the 1B119 ‘Rheostat’ artillery fire control vehicle left in the Kherson region appeared on the Telegram social network. It once again became a trophy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The relevant photos were published by the Ukraine Weapons Tracker resource.

Now this trophy will help our fighters more accurately ‘pour’ Nona self-propelled guns on the invaders.

1В119 ‘Rheostat’ is intended for fire control of batteries of self-propelled artillery installations 2С9 ‘Nona’. In such a relatively small machine, the Soviet designers inserted the TA-57 field telephone, the PUO-9 fire control device, the TNA-4 tank navigation equipment and other specific equipment. It is stated that the battery under the control of ‘Rheostat’ can open fire already 10 minutes after the march.

According to some data, the USSR managed to produce only about 60 machines, which were supposedly ‘inherited’ to the Russian army. According to data as of 2021, all 1B119 ‘Rheostat’ were distributed between two units of the Russian Airborne Forces – between the 7th Airborne Assault and 76th Airborne Divisions.

According to the conservative estimates of the Oryx portal, as of now, the Russians have already lost at least 7 machines of this type: two copies of the 1B119 ‘Rheostat’ were destroyed, the other 5 became trophies of the Armed Forces.

Before the invasion of the Russian Federation, our army had about fifty self-propelled guns 2S9 ‘Nona’, and took as a trophy at least four such Rashist artillery installations. Therefore, it seems that the 1B119 ‘Rheostat’ machines won by the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are used for a completely ‘standard’ purpose, that is, to control the fire of the ‘Nona’ self-propelled guns during ‘pouring’ on the racks.

Especially since in open sources we can find 1B119 ‘Rheostat’ and in ‘pixel’ camouflage of the Armed Forces, probably from storage. Which means that such a machine was familiar even before the full-scale war with the Russian Federation.
