Indian destroyer Rajput successfully launches supersonic cruise missile BrahMos (photo)

India conducted naval exercises, during which the destroyer Rajput test-fired the BrahMos cruise missile. This is the third such event in a few weeks.

The test took place in the Bay of Bengal. The destroyer Rajput, part of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet, has successfully launched a supersonic cruise missile. During the flight, BrahMos achieved all its goals.

This was the third exercise involving a supersonic missile. On October 18, 2023, the Su-30MKI fighter jet launched an airborne configuration. This happened a week after the Indian Air Force, together with the Army, tested four BrahMos long-range missiles.

BrahMos Aerospace is engaged in the production of projectiles. It appeared in 1998.

BrahMos is an Indian anti-ship missile capable of supersonic speed. It is based on the Russian anti-ship missile Oniks, the export version of which is called Yakhont.
