“Inexpensive and fast”: DIU tests new Ukrainian UAV SpyGun on the front line (photo)

The Ukrainian-made drone is designed for deep reconnaissance, so after the rear tests, it was provided to the DIU for testing. The agency explained what is special about the development of domestic engineers.

Ukrainian defenders are testing a new Ukrainian-made drone, SpyGun, in the combat zone. On August 8, the press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense described it in detail.

SpyGun has already passed the rear tests. It is designed for deep reconnaissance, but can also be used for fire adjustment.

“The UAV was created by Ukrainian engineers and designers on the initiative of entrepreneur and volunteer Yuriy Holyk and tennis player and now Armed Forces serviceman Serhiy Stakhovsky,” the DIU said.

The complex consists of two drones and a ground control station. A modern radio control system with a high level of EW protection allows SpyGun to operate at a range of up to 50 kilometers.

The Ukrainian UAV is also equipped with an automatic return to takeoff point system and can fly along the chosen route while saving battery power.

Additional features of SpyGun released by the intelligence community:

  • flight time without landing – up to 160 minutes;
  • The maximum flight altitude is 1500 meters;
  • working height – up to 600 meters;
  • speed – 90 km/h.

The drone has two cameras: an online course camera and a GoPro, and it records on an onboard device.

“The SpyGun UAV is relatively inexpensive and quick to manufacture with a simple body design that makes the SpyGun invisible in the sky during operation,” the DIU emphasized.

As a reminder, on August 7, the DIU reported successful operations on the left bank of the Kherson region. Special Forces eliminated a detachment of Russian troops and took a photo with a trophy flag. The enemy group was subordinated to the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

On August 8, Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel Anatoliy “Stirlitz” Stefan reported that the defenders had destroyed a Russian infantry fighting vehicle using a TORO kamikaze drone. According to him, it happened in the same place where the occupiers had already lost a T-80 tank.
