It squats and even dances: Tesla shows humanoid robot Optimus Gen 2 (video)

Tesla has shown an updated (second) version of the Optimus Gen robot. It became 10 kilograms lighter and started moving faster.

The developers have increased the robot’s walking speed by 30%. We also revised the structure of the robot’s feet and arms to more closely mimic human limbs, and improved its balance – now it can squat. In addition, the robot can interact with fragile objects, such as chicken eggs.

To demonstrate the improvements in humanoid robots, Tesla also showed two Optimus Gen 2s dancing to loud music.

  • Elon Musk unveiled the Optimus concept in August 2021 at Tesla’s Artificial Intelligence Day. The declared height of Optimus is about 173 cm, weight – 57 kg.
  • According to Tesla founder Elon Musk, these robots are powered by the most advanced artificial intelligence that currently exists. According to Musk, in the future, there will be at least one robot per person.
