Kyivstar outage was caused by a hacker attack on the network core – media

A hacker attack on the network core caused a massive technical failure at the largest mobile operator Kyivstar.

Sources in the company told dev.ua about it.

Dev.ua’s sources also deny the information about the alleged search of the company by law enforcement officers, which is being spread by some Telegram channels:

As of 12:00, the Ministry of Infrastructure said it hoped to restore Kyivstar’s network within four to five hours.

Repairs are currently underway.

On the morning of December 12, Kyivstar, which has 24 million subscribers, experienced a large-scale outage. Communication and the operator’s website are down. The relevant specialists are already working to fix the problem.
