In the first week alone, the new online service of the MIA service centers was used 1,363 times. You can choose and book state registration license plates for your vehicles independently in the Driver’s Electronic Office.
For a week now, Ukrainians have had two different online services related to license plates. One of them allows you to choose free license plates from among those available at a particular service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs before applying for a vehicle registration or re-registration service. This has never existed in Ukraine before.
And another online service allows you to order individual license plates, which are an addition to the license plates of the state registration of the vehicle.
How do I book a specific alphanumeric combination?
The owner or future owner of the vehicle can log in to the Driver’s Electronic Office and preview whether a certain combination of numbers or letters and numbers is available at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs where he or she plans to apply for registration. Once the desired combination is selected, it can be reserved for your vehicle for 10 days. You can also pay for the cost of the selection and/or a combination of numbers and letters online.
What is important to know about booking license plates?
The service is provided for those drivers who can take advantage of digital services in Ukraine. In other words, if a driver has received a new driver’s license or registered any vehicle within the last 10 years, the information about it is in the electronic register of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and digital services are available to him or her. If the driver has not had a single visit to any service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for a decade, then, unfortunately, digital services cannot yet be provided. You should either exchange your driver’s license for a modern license or apply offline for services, including the service of choosing a license plate for state registration of vehicles at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The owner of a vehicle or a person planning to purchase a car, motorcycle, trailer, etc. can reserve only one license plate. In case a person has several vehicles, the next booking is possible after the client has assigned the selected license plate and re-registered the car at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Cost and terms of online service
The service of choosing a license plate will cost UAH 360 for any combination, except for certain paid combinations of digits, which cost from UAH 4,800 to 36,000.
The cost of 1 day of storage is UAH 10.80. The license plate reservation is valid for up to 10 days.
Separately, you will have to pay approximately UAH 300 for a license plate (metal specialty products, the cost of which depends on the type of vehicle and the cost of purchase); UAH 200 for the administrative service of vehicle registration/re-registration at the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs; UAH 405 for the form of a vehicle registration certificate (not paid if you receive only an e-certificate) and additional fees of the payment system or bank.
If the customer does not apply for the re-registration service within 10 calendar days, the reservation is canceled automatically. The license plate is returned to the list of available license plates, and another person can select it for booking for their vehicle. Also, during this time, the customer of the service can cancel the booked license plate. To do this, you need to contact the Regional Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is the governing body in the region where the license plate is booked, and submit a refund application, a receipt, and a copy of your passport to the accounting department.
