Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed amendments to the Constitution that regulate the rights of the former president of the Republic and his family. This was reported by the press service of the head of Belarus.

According to the amendments, the former president and his family will retain immunity, lifetime protection and the right to use state real estate.

The resigned president and his family members will not be held accountable for any crimes committed during their time in power. Assets, property, correspondence and the right to life protection remain untouched.

In the event of the death of the former head of state, his burial will be held at public expense.

The ex-president himself will become a delegate to the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly and a lifetime member of the Council of the Republic.
