The head of the Kremlin arrived at the solemn event accompanied by the leaders of the post-Soviet republics.
A parade in honor of May 9 began in the Russian capital, Moscow. The leaders of Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan arrived at Red Square.
At the beginning of the parade, Russian President Vladimir Putin greeted World War II veterans accompanied by the leaders of the republics who arrived at Red Square.
Who came to see Putin on May 9
As seen on the parade broadcast, the following republican leaders arrived at the invitation of the Russian side:
- Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan;
- Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia
- Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan
- Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan
- Sadyr Zhaparov, President of Kyrgyzstan
- Alexander Lukashenko, self-proclaimed president of Belarus

As a reminder, on May 9, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned that Russia could be preparing provocations against its population during the parades. According to the command, Russia’s “victory” requires new victims and crimes to sway the population to the side of Russian aggression.
A day earlier, on May 8, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ihnat, said that the repulsion of the Russian air attack on the night of May 8 gave confidence to both the military and Ukrainians. The defenders are preparing for different scenarios for May 9.
