Meta develops next-generation AI model to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-4

Meta is investing in hardware and infrastructure to create a chatbot that can compete with OpenAI’s GPT-4 model.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the company plans to start training a large language model in early 2024. CEO Mark Zuckerberg insists that it should be free for developers of AI tools.

According to the report, Meta is actively purchasing Nvidia H100 chips for training neural networks and strengthening its computing power to be independent of the Microsoft Azure cloud. At the beginning of the year, the company formed a group to accelerate the development of AI that mimics human behavior.

Earlier it was reported that Meta plans to create several models of generative AI. According to rumors, she is testing a chatbot for Instagram with 30 “personalities”. Perhaps it is about unannounced AI characters that will be presented this month.
