Meta has fixed the problem: now you can delete a profile in Threads without losing your Instagram account
The Threads app now allows users to delete a profile separately from their Instagram account, following complaints from social media users.
This was announced by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri.
According to him, Threads has two updates in response to user feedback. The first of them is deleting a profile without harming your Instagram account.
To do this, go to the Account section in the settings. There, select the “Delete or deactivate profile” button, and then click “Delete”.
“Second, we recently introduced a feature that allows people to see Threads posts directly on Facebook and Instagram to help grow your audience and increase your reach. We’ve received feedback that you want more control over this process, so we’re introducing the ability to opt out of being shown outside of Threads in the Privacy settings,” Mosseri added.
What you need to know about the Threads app
On July 6, Meta launched its Twitter analog, the Threads app. Over 10 million users registered in the first seven hours.
The app is now available in more than 100 countries, including Ukraine, for iOS and Android users. Threads users can log in with their Instagram account and post up to 500 characters using links, photos, and videos up to five minutes long. In addition, you can set the privacy of your own posts in Threads so that only people you follow, profiles you mention, or any user can reply to them.
Threads founder Mark Zuckerberg claims that as of October 27, the app has almost 100 million users per month. He plans to develop the product.
- Earlier, a problem was discovered in the Threads app: deleting an account automatically deletes the user’s Instagram page. Meta claimed to be working on fixing this.
