Microsoft unveiled new laptops with integrated artificial intelligence

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced a new line of Copilot Plus PC laptops equipped with built-in artificial intelligence and integrated AI features in the operating system. This was reported by The Verge.

New AI capabilities are provided by a neural processor built into laptops. One of the key features will be Recall, which uses AI to create a “photographic memory” that makes it easy to find everything you’ve done and seen on your PC.

Microsoft explains that Copilot+ notebooks structure information based on connections and associations that are unique to each user. The Recall feature allows you to view a chronological feed with the most recently visited folders, open files, browser pages, and messenger chats.

The company added that Recall uses a personalized semantic index that is created and stored exclusively on your device. Your screenshots and moments remain locally on your PC and belong only to you.

Users can delete individual snapshots, customize and delete time ranges, or pause the function using the icon on the taskbar. You can also filter programs and websites from being saved.

According to Microsoft, the new laptops will be 58 percent faster than the MacBook Air with an M3 processor, and the battery will last for a whole day. However, it is not yet clear whether this applies to all Copilot Plus PC laptops or only to models with Qualcomm Arm processors.

The Recall feature will not be available on all PCs. It requires Copilot+ computers with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processors and appropriate memory requirements. The minimum amount of free disk space must be 256 GB, of which 50 GB must be available. Recall will store 25 GB of snapshots showing files, actions, websites, and other activities from the last three months. You can increase the limit, but old photos will be automatically deleted when it’s full.
