Microsoft will finally retire Internet Explorer in February 2023

Microsoft has named the date of final closure of the Internet Explorer browser.

Therefore, Internet Explorer 11 will be completely disabled in Windows 10 on February 14, 2023. This will happen by updating Microsoft Edge: when trying to open Internet Explorer, the user will be automatically redirected to Microsoft Edge with automatic transfer of accumulated data. These include cookies, cache, passwords, and more.

According to the company, this should improve user interaction and simplify the transition to Edge.

Microsoft will remove all visual references to Internet Explorer from Windows 10 with the June Update. This means you will no longer see the IE logo in the taskbar or Start menu.

Microsoft has been gradually shutting down Internet Explorer before. In June of this year, the browser was removed from all editions of Windows except Windows 10 LTSC, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server.

By the way, Microsoft has been using Internet Explorer for almost 30 years – since 1995.
